Fern Pavilion

Summer 2024

My final project for the embARC summer architecture program is the fern pavilion. It is the culmination of all the skills and ideas that I had explored in the program. I was inspired by the fragmented shade provided by ferns to construct a promenade cover while utilizing the wet and shaded environment of ferns to design the interior. While the slits cover the promenade from the sun, they also allow pedestrians to view out over the well groomed gardens. In order to get the accurate dimensions for the model, I created a net out of a 3d model in rhino and then printed it out using 49 pieces of paper. This template was then used to construct the physical model.
